Insurance and Removals!

Insurance is essential

Always have insurance. So often it is taken for granted, but it is highly recommended that you have building and contents insurance.

When selling your property, do not forget, you will need to insure it right up until the sale has been completed. There would be nothing worse than if on the day of the sale the house should become damaged.

Mortgage lenders will stipulate that buildings insurance is compulsary, although you may not be required to take out a policy with them, you will need to provide evidence to them that you have a policy.

Removals

Finding a good removals firm is never easy. For every horror story there will be a hundred successes. It is worth inviting two or three firms to give a quote and ensure they are all quoting for the same thing. There may be extras, such as boxes, the packing and dismantling of items and their own insurance may have different levels of cover. You will need to find out how long the removals will take and when you can expect them at the new address.

If you are moving from England, then you may find that you can not easily tie in the sale of your property and the purchase of the Scottish one. It is common for people to live with friends or relatives for a week, in which case your removals may have to go into storage. Be sure you are clear on the cost for storage, as often removal firms quote for a 'storage area' or 'unit' for a length of time. Make sure you know how many units your belongings require and for how long they will be in storage.

Our recommendation is that Insurance is essential for peace of mind.
